Railway is accelerating the process of privatisation of its trains, stations. In a high level meeting held on 8-9 December, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has asked railway officials to identify 150 new routes for private operators and prepare a plan ahead. Premier trains such as Duronto, Tejas and Rajdhani Express will run on these routes, i.e private companies will operate trains on this routes.

Railway will start bidding for 150 trains next month. Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav has said that the railway will start the bidding process for 150 trains next month.
He told that this is happening for the first time in the country, so this process is taking time. The entire process has to be done in stages. The request will be called for the first qualification, in which the bidders i.e bidding companies will send their qualification, after which the RFP i.e. Request for Proposal will be verified in the second phase. All this process will take six months. In the second phase, the details of revenue generation and routes will be decided.

According to the information received from the meeting in this report, 30 private trains can be run from Mumbai on these routes. Private trains can run from Mumbai Central, Kurla, Bandra Terminus and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. These trains will be run on the route of Western and Central Railway.
